Too bad it doesn't work... Gotta love the government.

I'll keep trying though!

I just checked. It seemed to work okay for me. Maybe because I'm a Canuck. I can always use a Bellingham zip code because I pay sales tax down there. :hillbilly:

Good luck with the petition. But the way the economy is in the US, it is going to be an very hard uphill battle. Goevernment is doing everything they can to protect the domestic automotive lobby.

The way I see it, if there is true freedom, then you should be able to import what you want within a minimum set of safety and environmental guidelines, regardless of age. Limiting a citizen's purchasing choices is the hallmark of a socialist Command Economy. Kind of funny that many in the US fight tooth and nail against public health insurance but have no problem being told they can't buy and import a new 200 Series diesel Cruiser. :meh:

Just tried it again. it worked this time after a reboot. It was acting like I wasn't logged in before, but this time it worked fine.

Done.

Signed and shared on FB.

What makes you think a petition will do any good? Good luck nonetheless. Everyone needs a hobby to keep them out of trouble.

Not much... But I figured what the hell? Maybe there is some optimism left in this cynic:)

Signed. Only took a minute.

What makes you think that it won't? Did you sign?

There is only one guarantee, that being, if you sit back on your a$$ and do nothing, you're "guaranteed" to fail.;)

Well said Off Duty!

From the website:

"The petition you are trying to access has expired, because it failed to meet the signature threshold. "

Looks like this one won't work. The last time I check the petition had way less than half the signatures needed with only a few days left. Oh well, maybe next time.

By the way, does anyone know how many members are on MUD? Is there a reason that most of the members on MUD wouldn't support a petition like this?

Here is the "weak point" of this thread ( even though the intentions are noble. ) Everyone that has contributed to this thread is using logic and common sense while those in Washington are incapable of using logic or common sense and yet we keep putting them back in office.

Damn!
That's by far the best explanation I've heard regarding "change" in Washington to date!

You left out the important part...."HOPE and change"......Like I "hope"
I can find a job and I only have "change" in my pocket.:)

So I will not be one of those people that constantly points out the problem without offering a solution.....here is the solution:

All of the people that have a desire to import a vehicle ( that would be a Land Cruiser for normal people ) should create a political PAC and contribute millions of dollars to the PAC.. We could then use this money to "buy" a few congressmen ( and yes that is the way it works.) They would in-turn sponsor the necessary legislation to allow us to import said vehicle ( this is where you insert "Land Cruiser"):)
Actually seems kinda simple..............1978HJ45

"Because we the enthusiast people didn't gather behind the effort to lower the gray market importation limit from 25 to 15 years, the We The People petition filed a couple of months ago has failed. In order to get the Executive Branch to consider such requests, each petition needs 25,000 signatures and this one didn't get it. That isn't to say the decision would have been overturned, but now it won't even get a look."

Petition to shorten gray market import exemption fails

The fact is they care about you as much as you care about them.
You need a suit case full of money to be heard.
