well. here is a quick proof of concept for a permanent mount for the ultra gauge wired obd 2 reader.
right now the harness is mounted pointing outward so you take the cover off and plug in a reader. but if you have one you want to keep in you either have to leave the cover off or shove it between the dash and the fuse panel or shove it back through the the dash somehow (which i wasn’t able to do) and just let it hang down.
then i noticed there are a pair of holes in the harness oriented 90 degrees to the others.
so i just grabbed some thin rubber with adhesive and did a 4 layer “glue up”. drilled a hole at the end, screwed it on with the connector mounted vertically instead of horizontally. then just used the hole in the plastic harness as a guide for the other hole.
it’s a little janky but everything fits and seems pretty good for a proof of concept. i’ll probably grab a 3/8” piece of felt or something and make a more permanent mount and get a pair of proper screws for the speed clips.

You can buy an obd 2 "extension" they have a flat 90 and get the same reaults

You can also buy an OBD II extension Y cable so you can hardwire the ultragaug ed in and leave the original socket open for smog testing or dealer troubleshooting.

I spent $10 on eBay and bought an OBD2 splitter. The new splitter end literally mounts into the same space as the old harness, looks identical to the OEM plug and allows me to attach my UG on the backside. Pull the cover off the fuse panel and it looks factory fresh. I can even plug another OB2 reader in and pull codes seemly. This is especially important because in California, I’ll fail smog if I have something plugged into the OBD2 port.

Yep. Used a Y cable to connect my ScanGauge to and also 'move' the factory OBDII out of the fuse box area to just below it.
