I dig it. If I still had my old front driveshaft, I'd send it to you. I think @richardlillard1 made me throw it in the trash, though. Or maybe that was the rear? I can't remember. Anyway, best of luck.

no worries! thanks brother! I'll be sure to post up some updates once I get the new one installed - luckily it comes pre-greased from the dealer. If that doesn't solve my problem, I will probably need a new transfer case.

Hats off for not deleting the post about using an entire tube of grease on your driveshaft. I'd probably try to cover something like that up

Please elaborate.

When I say I have no idea what I'm doing, I'm being honest.

Had read conflicting reports online that you stopped greasing when the slip yoke moved, had read others saying to stop when you saw grease coming from slip yoke. I went with the latter and I'm pretty sure it helped contribute to what caused me to ruin my driveshaft.

I grease mine every 5k miles at oil change intervals. I pump until I see some old stuff come out of the U-joints and the shaft. I wheel mine relatively hard for what it is and have no issues. I had the u-joints replaced at around 23X,000 miles as PM.

Please elaborate.

In order to get the grease to come out of my front driveshaft, I used an entire tube of moly grease on the front slip yoke zerk. Didn't come out until my tube was empty. Had to use a new tube on the rear, which only took ~10 pumps to get grease coming out of the slip yoke.

Sorry, I was trying to find out why @nukegoat implied it would be embarrassing to use so much grease. I'd assume it was because the service was never done before, but was thinking maybe he knew something I didn't.

Can you tell me what sized wheels and tires you used? I am starting a similar build.

Toyo Open Country's size:285/65/R18 with Tundra TRD Pro wheels. Still looking for a 5th for my spare.

I'd had the driveline "clunk" for a while and thought that greasing my driveshaft and u-joints would help to solve the problem. Used an entire tube of grease on my driveshaft.

Unless I'm mistaken, the issue here is greasing the driveshaft with the tires in the air, which allowed you to put too much grease. Tires should be on the ground while greasing driveshaft esp if your plan is to pump grease until it pushes old grease out seals

Keep up the good work man, I'm a military guy that was in the same boat. Fortunately for me I have a lot of mechanically inclined friends to help me out, or bail me when I get in over my head. Post more pics of your hard work.

Great news everyone, problem is fixed. Full replacement of my transfer case with one out of a wrecked 01 LX470 has fixed the problem. Will be breaking open my old one here in the future to see how bad I messed up the internals.

In other news, the new T Case and new front driveshaft have eliminated most of the "clunk" going from park to drive.

Got the chance to rip the transfer case apart today. Not sure what it's exactly called, but the "big gear set", which some more mechanically inclined members have told me is the low range gear set, has a stripped tooth, and a TON of metal teeth came out of the internals of it. Cannot get the bolts off without an impact, but will attempt to do that here in the coming days to see the full extent of the damage.

Pic of the damage, had a ball bearing come out as well. 12mm socket for size comparison.

That's surprising. So you were shock loading it in low range and it broke teeth. Wow!

Got my reef drawer system (from Land Shark Outfitters and @cruzerDave) built and tentatively strapped in the truck. Instructions could use a little tweaking, but overall very impressed with the system. Excited to install the wing kit.

Took the LX out for some range and route reconnaissance for work here on Camp Pendleton. Wish I could ride around in this rather than take a HMMWV.

She was up to all the tasks, intentionally took a harder line and through some water a couple times to give her a little workout.

Installed my Bora 1.25" spacers today. Have had them for a couple months, just never took the time to put them on.

Changes the whole look of the truck!

Got the wing kit installed on my KISS reef drawers. Going to have to get some marine carpet to cover them. Using the "universal" wing kit was kind of a pain, but I got them to fit!

Finally got my low range gearset taken apart in my transfer case. The shock on these gears must have been astronomical. Scarring on the inside of the gear housing as well from all the fragments.

Anyone want any of the good parts from my t-case before it goes in the trash?

I also seem to be getting some sort of fluid leak on my drivers side. Touching it with my finger and it's definitely some type of lubricant. Any idea what it it's from?

Given the location and that your power steering boot looks wet your most likely looking at a leak from the power steering rack. That being said, oil falls down so it could be coming from anything above that. Valve covers (even if done recently the front of the block where the FIPG goes is a common leak), coolant, refrigerant... anything. How's your PS fluid level? Any whine when moving lock to lock on the wheel? Don't let the PS fluid get too low and cost you twice as much when the pump goes out.
