After reading many posts over the years, I knew this day would finally come. The front passenger seat in my 80 will no longer move forward/backwards. (Actually, it's all the way forward and wont move back. The worm drive on the righht side of the seat seems to be working but the one on the left side is binding and does not appear to be working. Looks like there may be two drive motors and the left side is not working.

Anyone been through this before with some tips before I bring out the shop manual and tools?

Talk to CDan you are going to have to replace the worm gear on the left front, it is stripped. Get in line several are in the process of getting part.

Fixed!

Found the nylon end-cap had worked itself loose and had fallen out. This end cap accepts and centers the shaft of the worm gear. Without the cap installed, the worm gear was no longer centered and was binding. Re-installed the end cap and the seat is working fine.

Thanks for all the input.

Now, back to our regular program
