I've been kicking around the idea of trying to throw a diesel in my FJ40, i've got a small block and turbo 400 now, but i'm a huge diesel fan! I was just curious how hard it is to get parts for the Toyota diesels in the states? And what about the Isuzus? Thanks for any info

Well you can get parts for 3 toyota diesels from Canada,1HZ ,2H and 3B.
Generally once you have a good diesel engine ,your parts needs will be only filters a couple of times a year and injectors every 4 years.
They still need the odd starter and alternator but I guess wise owners would have a little stash of these as they become available.

Do you mean the Isuzu NPR truck engine? Its a good motor but until a few owners get them up and running in landcruisers for all to see ,it will remain a talking point.(Fully acknowledging there are some people out there working on it right now;) )

Isuzu 4x4 2.8 4cyl diesel engines found in the trooper and wagon models in some countries are also good and capable of 300000 miles but probably a bit too small for a cruiser.

With the proliferation of RHD's and raw drivetrains, one can get many parts for the 12HT/13BT and 1HD-T in Canada too from various sources in Canada. Whatever parts one can not source (there are many cross over parts too between engines), part numbers that can be checked on the EPC system then ordered from a dealer willing to work with you (C-Dan from this site for those in the USA), or parts that are Denso available...Oz is a short skip and hop away these modern days. The basic consumables are no issue imo, even when in a rebuild situation. Prudence does suggest tracking and keeping some spares on the shelve as roscoe suggests.
