Partial hitch receiver cover - is there such a thing made? (1 Viewer)

Hi all,

I like to use my hitch a lot during summer and not at all during winter.
For winter the OEM cover is nice to cover the hitch receiver.
But in the summer I have this ugly mess of holes in the bumper.

I think Lexus should have offered an option to buy a partial cover - more like a trim to finish the bumper for "active" people that are biking during summer.

Does anybody makes such a trim?

Here is a picture to make it clear...

Get another cover and trim to fit. I would trim it neat to the black steel. Only exposing the receiver box sleeve and the safety chain attachment loops.

I can buy the part ~$70, although it looks no longer available pre-painted.
The issue is that even if I cut the hole it will not look nice, better than the many holes on the perimeter, but not right because the cover has a hump to go over the proud receiver. I cannot cut it close to the steel as I need space to put the pin in and take it out to change between different hitch racks. The cover is not flush with the bumper but domed out to cover the receiver. It will look hacked even after painting.

I've seen posts where people modded them over the years on here.

Here is one example that came out tidy:

“Get another cover and trim to fit. I would trim it neat to the black steel. Only exposing the receiver box sleeve and the safety chain attachment loops.”

That would look good but make it tough to actually lock in a ball mount with a pin.

The guy in the post above used it for a bike rack, so I imagine it is doable.

Lexus didn’t offer a partial cover.. they merely designed the full one to be very easy to remove and install.

I wonder if there is enough depth with this cover and a hole in the black plastic behind it to mount the 7 wire female plug just below 10mm on the right side?

Edit: I see in @doru 's pic above that there is metal right behind the black plastic. A hole saw can certainly make a hole to fit the 7 wire plug and there must be enough room behind it before running into the spare. I agree with the Yoda engineer bashing on the unconventional stock location of the plug.

That metal is a major frame crossmember. Not sure I’d want to go cutting holes in it without also doing work to make up for the lost strength.

Ditto to what Bloc said - that isn't single wall steel sheet, thats a transverse suspension crossmember box section.

Ok, between the pics in this thread and the linked earlier one, there look to be differences between year models and or 200/LX. Yes no punching holes in structural components.

The LX has a 7 pin connector under the bumper in the RH side and comes with one of the 7-to-4 pin adapters from the factory so no need to install one more.
