Hello

1985 bj75 is giving strange a fuel filter flashing light, issues at the pump filling up (empty tank but the fuel system does not accept more fuel), loss of power while driving, and some leaking while turning. Maybe my fuel lines are going bad?

I am trying to identify and replace the potential failing part in the attached pic. Is that likely the issue? Can anyone help?

Ive never heard of it 'not filling with fuel at the pump'.....
Id look at the fuel tank vent probably...maybe?
thats the fuel water sedimenter, get rid of it and replace with a racor or similar fuel filter with water separator bowl in its place, i have a racor 10 micron filter there now and it works great. That sedimter will be full of mud and rust at this age. Change the oem fuel filter at the same time and the fuel primer and you will prob solve most of your issues.
 
Those fuel lines are shot! Start by replacing all the rubber lines including the return line from injector rail back to the pump. Change the fuel filter and drain to at black cylinder in your pic(it’s a fuel water separator) as for fuel not going in the tank might be full? Lines clogged so no fuel from tank. You can use compressed air in the line that goes to the separator to “reverse clear the line if it’s clogged in the tank” tap the tank to confirm it’s not full and is empty
 
Your issue is likely caused by intermittent air bubbles in the fuel lines.
x2: start by replacing all rubber lines (should be 8mm ID) and inspect the hard lines for severe corrosion.
(The 3B usually has no return line).
* Bypass the sedimenter shown in your pics for the time being. * As long you are not located in an area known for dodgy fuel, you don't need it. It's usually not the source of the issue, but only the indicator. Objective is to get the engine running smooth.
Replace the fuel filter close to the IP.
Inspect the nozzle on the tank, where the soft line attaches, for severe corrosion and signs of sweating diesel (the pickup pipe is prone for corrosion, but it's only the top of the tank, so leave this to the last resort, if everything else fails).
To bleed the main fuel line, undo the line from the primer pump inlet and pull through a gallon of diesel with any auxiliary pump (I used a hose pump on a drill). Don't use the priming pump for this; it's barely up to the task and may start leaking.
