WOW....

indeed a bit too much momentum on that climb....

Good way to learn though...I am sure he'll be paying Mercedes a visit for some parts....

I wonder if he gets a MUD discount?

:hhmm:

Wow is right! I wouldn't feel so bad about rolling my cruiser after seeing the price on those Mercedes. Wait, am I supposed to be intimidated again after the Moab trip?

i guess they make aftermarket bolt on replacement panels since they rust out back east quickly(for the G's). still about $3k-4k after paint match.

... they spotted the pictured G and he missed the mark by quite a bit, and was moving faster than he was told to. when the front PS dropped, the momentum carried him over.

Unfortunate. :frown:

Each of us can learn something from that video clip.

True, but how many times did you or Mark stand in front of my truck to spot me and remind me not rush it in Moab? I learned more thanks to everyone there, but without the expierence and some help, will rush through like i did a bit, but luckily I didn't have the same fate.

Slow and low folks....

Slow and low.....

:grinpimp:

I can't believe my ears...Onur is that you? If not, what did you do with the Turk? :D

WOW. My first run with HDC was in the winter of 1999 up Paliza. Even in my stock 1970 FJ40 it was no problem. Either the trail has gotten much harder or the average experience level of drivers has decreased.

Considering that hundreds of vehicles that didn't flop on this trail, I wouldn't be so quick to judge the experience level of the average drivers based on one newbie G wagon making a simple mistake.

The north facing shelf road down to the main highway is much worse. The berms/tank traps are easier if you stay in the ruts and much harder if you miss.... even by a little bit.

Ya know, come to think of it that first run up Paliza coming from the south we took a left at that first tank trap and didn't go over the saddle (but got stuck behind a locked FS gate, but that's another story).

I've been up and down the north shelf on my own several times but always in dry weather. I don't remember anything that really got my attention but in snow it would be a whole different deal.
