There’s only one place to eat beignets IMO and that’s on Decatur
 
Some piddling around today. Cleaned all the AC components with denatured alcohol. Converting to 134. New expansion valve, drier and compressor (denso/RockAuto). Getting the plumbing hooked up and some pics of where I’m at on the interior. Need to order one of those Jenson head units. Also gonna upgrade the positive/negative battery wires and connectors. The factory stuff just goes to crap over time.

Jimmy what head unit do you recommend? I need to replace the pioneer CD player in my 60 and would like something with Bluetooth.

I believe there’s a newer generation. Have not been able to find this exact model.
 
Sealed up the AC system but my O-ring kit is suspect. Old and limited sizes. Put the vacuum on it and slowely trying to find the joint that’s not sealing. Refurbished the air-inlet system (where the blower fan attaches) and plenum with new foam. The old was like powder when you touched it. The cabin vs outside flaps now seal 100%.

Jimmy, this is my go to for leaks. It HF, but works. It’s less than the one time cost to get a leak found. Of course you need to charge the system a tad to make it work. Might wanna check if autozone or Oreillys lends one out. Not sure if you are, but I always lather the fresh orings in PAG oil before they go on. Always helps to have the old orings to match size, if match is not great, it can be a leak source.

Great feedback CD. And yes, I don’t have any charge on the system. Not ready to run the motor yet. I pressurized the system to 80 lbs on the low side (which is where the leak is) and I’m spraying the joints with soapy water. Will see if this works. I can tell it’s a fairly fast leak

Awesome. That should work as well. You can also buy refrigerant with dye in it to trace a leak if the soap spray does not reveal it.

I do have green dye in there. But won’t show anything until I pressurize the system with 134 and run it. So I used compressed air and shot the gauges to 90 on the low around 75 on the high. Used a spray bottle with soapy water. Unfortunately the leak was at the new expansion valve. Texted the video to CD. Was not easy looking through that opening on the side of the plenum. Actually used my camera as a sorta scope. Huge bubbles popping in there. Pulled it, tightened it some more and no more bubbles. Testing it in the engine bay so I don’t have to potentially remove it again. Easier this way. Gonna let the system sit overnight under these pressures and see if there’s not a slower leak somewhere else. Happy thus far hence sitting by the fire enjoying one last beverage

Was it leaking right at the adaptor fitting that came with the new expansion valve? That's where the leak was when I did my 4runner.

Correct. Thought I tightened it about the same as all the other fittings with O-rings. Careful not to cut the rings by over tightening. It dawned on me that adapter is a compression fitting so I torqued it down. Does not show to be leaking anymore.
 
Moved the copper cruiser as well as my work horse Duramax. Shot many videos walking around a bit and you could hear branches snapping off all around me in the woods. Saw a few live examples but was not fast enough on the draw to capture it with my phone. Pretty cool sh*t tho.
Also realized I have not documented the addition to the glove box. Bought this sticker from Etsy. Also put one on my personal 60 which I’ve been meaning to do for 7 years

Just went out to the shop to get some headlamps (painting interior of my house) and saw a huge limb snap off and barely miss a 100 under the trees. Also saw this second limb that fell after moving the copper cruiser. You can see my tire tracks. Better lucky than good

That looks like one of those ice storms where you can't open your vehicle door for a day or two. Nasty stuff.

You're spot-on Jim. Had to pour warm water on the door seam and handle of my truck and the 60 to get the doors open.
