CenTXFJ60
SILVER Star
So I’ve painted a few cruisers and been doing this on and off since high school in the 80’s. I’ve had this 60 for a few years. It’s an original TX truck coming to San Marcos via Victoria most of its life. It has a few small rust spots I’ll correct. Mostly around the plugs left behind after some type of distributor or dealer rust protection. And I have to rebuild part of the lip that holds the body gasket on the rear of the truck. I’ve been prepping this 60 for the mother of my children and was originally doing mechanicals and interior. Decided yesterday that I could not deliver this to her in CO with the original faded patina look. Especially as I studied the minor rust issues. Yesterday and today I gutted and demoed the truck. I shoot in my barn with minimal ventilation (I use my 36” Porto-cool fan) so I will paint it in 3 stages. First will be the tub, then the front clip and then the doors. I removed all the glass except the door glass as I did not want to remove the chrome on them. That’s getting deeper than I have time for right now. Also have some older body work in the drivers rear quarter I have to redo as well as a few door dings and one dent in the passenger rocker. What I’m excited about is shooting Metallic. I’ve done some spot metallic spot jobs but never a whole vehicle. Here’s a few shots of the truck. I’ll use this thread to document my work. I will be the first to say I’m no where near the skill of Others I/we follow here on MUD. Just an average paint and body guy enjoying another build .
