OK, the crickets are chirping with abandon. Well the O2 sensor OEM nuts look like a sort of lock nut, so I'll snug them up and trust the lock nut and rust to keep them tight. A little wierd having a thread all to myself.
 
I really doubt they are that torque sensitive. Yeah, the heating and cooling cycles will take their toll, but I would get them hand tight...
 
Tight + a 1/4 turn should do it.
