I'm overhauling my 1FZFE as a result of the head gasket job crawling along with my busy work schedule. 225k, and relative small additional cost will haunt me if I don't. Going to do rings, bearings, timing chain, etc. on lower end.

CAN anyone think of stuff that should be replaced in addition to:

Belts,
hoses (heater, bypass, PHH, radiator),
Stat,
ALL gaskets, seals,
Rad clean / flush / reseal tanks,
Rad cap,
Gas cap,
Oil filler cap,
Night cap,
Day cap,
Noon cap,
bra strap,
Dist cap,
Rotor cap,
Plug wires,
Plugs,
PS pump reseal,
Man-A-Fre ized injectors,
clean injector rail,
vatt, shave head,
Valve grind,
clean cams,
new valve adj pucs,
Alternator brush pack,
Starter overhaul (even though replaced with new one at 125k)
Water pump,
EGR valve,
Fuel filter,
Air filter,
2X Oil changes, (Wix filters)
Various wiring harness repair and rewraping
Powder Coating Air Canister, Valve cover, Charcoal canister bracket, various water pipes, and a few small brackets, all bright Harley Orange. The plug wire covers will be silver with an orange sombrero.

Hopefully a supersharger will follow this job.

I also figure this takes me from a  to a    LC wrencher since I'm doing most the work myself.

egr modulator
air tube from filter canister to TB
a can of TB cleaner for said TB
pcv valve and grommet
alternator belt idler pulley

Check the PS cooler for corrosion where it passes under the Rad

depending on condition, studs and nuts on exhaust manifolds at the block and pipe.

I've never rebuilt a 1FZ, so I can't really comment on your list. It looks fairly complete though.

If you are going to install a supercharger at some later point, a word of advice. You need to get a copy of the SC installation guide from someone and go ahead now and do the part where you relocate/extend the MAF and TPS harnesses. The manual says you can cut the loom back on the driver's side of the head to release enough slack on the wires so that they will reach the final relocation point, but I (along with many others IIRC) had to cut and extend the two harnesses about 10-12". This is a real PITA because its cutting, soldering and heatshrinking about 10-12 wires (20+ connections) while sitting up on top of the engine. So I'd do it now while you have easy access.

There are two belt idlers...may as well do the one under the compressor as well.

So what is a TB?
Got one Idler pulley, will get one for the AC compressor
Got the gromet and PCV also

So, Jim, got that manual? Can you fax or email me the pages? I do have easy access to the PS wiring harness. It's laying over the PS fender right now. I need to re wrap it anyway. Great advice. See why I call you sensay!

May as well do that seat mod while it's down.
