It appears that I over greased my rear driveshaft (about 20 pumps). Silly me I kept pumping expecting old grease to come out and new seen passing seals. Slide yoke extended exactly an inch! If I indeed over greased, thinking of just removing zero fitting and drive around the block? What do you guys recommend me do? What is the proper procedure for greasing driveshafts? Thank you in advance

remove the zerk and/or pin it open, compress the driveshaft (which should squeeze a bunch of grease out), then put it back together.

You don't want to drive around with it over-filled as it'll apply pressure to the front diff and/or transfer case and reportedly can damage the latter.

Removing the zerk and driving will accomplish most of the same thing but make a serious mess. Plus you’d need to cycle the suspension as much as possible.

So yes, what he said.

I cycled the AHC (N to H to L and back to N) and got quite a lot of grease out. I figure I'll cycle 3X and should be good.

Great idea.. that should compress the driveshaft beyond anything it will see during normal driving.

I plan to go offroading tomorrow and decided to grease my shafts today. I'm so glad I saw this post. Thank you. I was totally going to do the same exact thing. I guess we have worked on older cars HAHA.

I sometimes have this vibration in the wheel. I always thought it was the road, but really never looked much into it. After I greased the shafts the vehicle doesn't have that minor vibration i felt before.

My experience:
So, I greased my driveshafts on my LX this weekend, I think my truck was never greased since it came out of assembly line. I pumped almost half of the 14 oz tube into both shafts, neither of them moved even a centimeter. I drove the truck and cycled it multiple times with AHC.
Since I didn't see any grease present on the shafts after this ride, I went under and tried putting few more pumps on both the shafts. This time out of curiosity I took a safety pin and pressed the zerks after I did 5 pumps, and noticed the grease came out just how much I pumped it. I kept pressing the zerks and none came after that 5 pumps worth of grease. I did this since I was not sure if my shafts got fully clogged with debris as I didn't see any moment as I kept emptying the 10 oz 3% molly grease, I stopped at this point as I didn't want to push the limits.
Initially I was wondering if my gun is even putting anything in as there is no moment on the shafts, hence I tried squirting the zerks out to check whats in.
