I’m pulling the stock front heater this week. What is the original color from the factory? I’d like to keep it as factory as possible.

What year? Front or rear unit?

Factory '76 was a semigloss black, with the lid/top being charcoal gray plastic (unpainted).

Rear floor heater is pewter/silver, but OP asked about the front. Not sure if other years up front (aside from old 25s) had a different color.

All the earlier models are gray. Wonder what year they went to black. My 74 heater which looks the one above is gray.

Mine is a 1978. Wasn’t sure it was black for that year or not. I’m looking to refurbish both front and cackle heaters.
