Still looking for an original 1978 AM radio for my FJ40. Mine is currently in non-working condition, but visually in excellent condition. Below are photos of my radio. Please contact me via IM.

I have been down that road and everyone that I have found so far wants to do conversions. I would love to get it repaired to original factory condition. What I don't want is a digital replacement with all the knob twisting for options, Bluetooth, etc. If anyone knows someone who repairs AM radios to factory condition please chime in. I have run into many dead ends. @ToyotaMatt is the first guy I checked with ;)

I have a buddy who repairs old radios, tvs, etc. The first thing he would need is a schematic. Is there by chance a schematic under the cover?

I appreciate the post and the photos. But I am only looking to either fix or replace it with a factory radio matching my radio. Photos listed above. Being original to my fj40 is what I am mostly concerned with. Keep the posts coming tho, I do appreciate it.

I am not a restorer but I do repair vintage stuff. If your's looks like this, it should be repairable. No ICs, just simple BJTs and discrete components. I have a -00012, and a couple -00013s, but no -00014. This is a -00013. I'm not really up to speed in my new location yet but could take a look at yours if you just want it fixed and not in a huge hurry. Its a side gig for me now until I retire.

@Engineer8000 I just purchased a radio from @kevos37 and it's on its way. When I get my other one out of my FJ40 (hopefully this weekend) I'll get it apart and post a couple of photos. I appreciate that.

@Engineer8000 ok I got the radio apart. What was going on with it initially is it would turn on, but it kept blowing a fuse. Sometimes the one on the back of the radio, sometimes the one on the fuse panel. The other issue is the antenna cable was pulled out. But that happened later. I've attached a couple pictures let me know what you think.

If that's a project you think you want to take on, just let me know. I have no idea what that type of thing would cost, but I would like to get it working if possible. Also, I would need the antenna issue addressed.
