Opinion needed on an 85

Interior and exterior show well and engine seems in order, but I would ask for frame pics.

Considering it's an 85 the build date is important to consider for future repairs and upgrades. Trans spacer and crossmember, etc. Later build is better according to most schools of thought.
Nice looking rig but feels a little pricey to me. Still plenty of rust free examples out there with prices all over the place.
You will love the transition to a roomier and more versatile vehicle that still retains all the LC mystique and appeal. Just take your time looking and the right one will find you. :)

Agree on getting some frame pix. Looks like they definitely did some painting on the rear cross member. Has it always been a NM rig? Think you could be able to talk him down some, but that price isn't crazy high for how it looks in the pictures. Frame shots will tell you a lot more.

My rig used to be that color...but with a grey interior.

Good luck

Steering wheel is off center in both pics, but in all the outside shots the tires are straight. If you go look at it I'd check that out.

Seems high in price though.

Looks like a pretty honest truck and there is some room left to negotiate. What appears to be a painted rear cross member might just be a new piece of steel added for a receiver install.

Couple of things I would want info on:

1) has non stock carb
2) brake master Cly 'appears' low. Could be bad camera angle.
3) clutch master Cly also 'appears' low.
4) in the engine compartment, what ever is that black hose looking thing running along the top of the firewall and ends not connected to anything...over by the wiper motor.

All minor issues but I'd want more info.

pics of dash without carpet cover. She's a beaut'! :D

You wanna buy my 62?

if the frame's clean and no accidents I think the price is not too far off/fair. Would think that if you put $7K in cash on the table you'd be driving away with it.

nice looking 60, clean, very close to stock

I think the tool kit location(under seat) make this one an early 85

missing the headlight washer bottle under the hood, air hose, few other minor things. Carb...no clue

I don;t see a re-painted crossmember, but a gray painted trailer hitch(these rust on rust free trucks) (I have the same hitch on my 60) its bolted on(my is)

pictures are taken in 2 different spots, one on the street, other someplace else, suspect thats why the wheel is off so far. If you look at the wheelcover, its centered on the street pics

driver seat tear has been repair, other than that the interior look right for the miles

would be shocked if the frame had any issues

Good eye! I didn't notice the carb at first and is that a hose in the back or fallen weatherstrip?

Now you've got the good eye Fj, I think you're right, that may be fallen weatherstrip

John

Thanks for all of the info so far! Will try to stop by and check it out this weekend. What carb could it be? It appears to match up to the air cleaner.

A period correct carb will be an Aisin Toyota carb with the sight glass in front.

John

I'm sure somebody will correct if I'm wrong, but the Aisin carb should look just like the one in your 40, unless it's been changed to something different somewhere along the line.

Nah, I've got a '85 60 and that carb, while it does seem to fit the air cleaner, it's not a stock '85 carb.

Not talking about the one in the 60, I'm suggesting if he wants to see what the Aisin looks like he probably has one in his current 40.

I wonder what they did with all the vacuum lines on that 60 to get that non-Aisin carb in there. Seems like it's stiil got all the smog stuff....

it looks like a Weber carb
