Re: Only runs w/ jumper wire from + coil to batter

Could be the igntion switch, but I would try the ballast resistor first.

Don't suppose you'd have a pic of this.  I'm not sure exactly what it might look like...

Actually, let me rephrase that... I know what they look like generally, but I don't seem to have anything of the sort in my truck.

Instead I have some a light pink wire that says "ignition resistor wire" or something of the sort..... do I have to replace this wire or...?

We tried bypassing this wire w/ a conventional ballast resistor but still no dice...

Re: Only runs w/ jumper wire from + coil to batter

Just posted a pic in your other thread about this..but between then and now I noticed yours is a 78...semi transistorized. I'd replace the pink wire with a new one.

Re: Only runs w/ jumper wire from + coil to batter

Tried a wire from where the pink wire begins w/ a resistor inline directly to the + side of the coil

Still no dice.

So check a little farther up the wire towards the ignition and notice one of those little connectors that toyota made impossible for people to get apart

Took it apart and the IGN tab was melted. Changed that and it fixed it.

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Just thought I'd post this in case someone in teh future has a similar problem

Thanks for all the help guys
