I am a bit thick and a tight arse, so always trying to save $20 bucks here or there. I saw a brand new front drive shaft for my hj75 for a very good price so thought I would grab it. It had koyo bearings, so probably good quality.
What a pia! There is not enough room allowance on the yokes to fit a socket or even a ring on the nuts and bolts. Driveshafts are important, if you don't want vibrations, doh. You need to torque them with a socket, dammit.
What a lot of friggin around, swearing, cursing non ome. What dumb manufacturer would go nearly all the way, balance the shaft, install koyo bearings, lube it , paint it but not finish by overlooking having to install the bloody thing.?#@*!!!
Look at the pics and you can tell the Toyota one.
So don't think saving $100 is going to make life better. What should be an easy job, is really hard on this non toyota driveshaft. Much more grief to the value of $100.
Lesson learnt, Toyota has integrity and does care. They consider maintenance.
