Has anyone compared the rides on OME 2.5" shocks (N73 to N70, N74E to N71E)? I've got the firm shocks and am unhappy with the on-road ride. Are the "softer" versions different enough that one can tell by the seat of the pants?

I have N73 and N74 shocks and find them to be too harsh for my taste. This is purely subjective mind you. I just don't like the jarring sensation the vehicle experiences whenever I go over freeway expansion joints, for example. The shocks are fantastic for off roading and the vehicle corners pretty well for the lift and weight. YMMV.

Agreed 100%.

Cornering and off-road equals a big improvement over stock. More controlled.

Expansion joints, etc, equals a harsher ride than stock.

Toss out those poly-urethane shock bushings and replace them with OEM rubber ones. You could re-use the old ones; but at least get four(4) new lower of the upper shock bushings (the ones that go below the body/chasis/mount) as these normally go first - There is a reason for Bilstein to make these thicker than the rest of their other bushings.

I've already put rubber all the way around on the N73/74E combo. That made a small improvement, but I'm looking for more which is why I'm inquiring about the 70/71E combo. Sorry for not pointing that out in the initial post.

Go Bilstein 5100's and never look back.

Did you notice that expansion joint difference when you went from the OME's to the Bilsteins?
