You bet you will with the shocks removed. Cory said no shocks installed. No shocks, no downward travel limit.

The front arms do limit travel re: flex, so the springs aren't going to fall out in the front until you unload the entire front end, and then instead of losing one spring while the tire is totally drooped and you can just pop it back in you lose both at the same time :D

No shock on DS+poorman's 3-link+2" puck extension+full articulation on Kodak rock at URE = rattling spring but no fallout. Maybe that 2" puck made the difference, but it sure stayed in. Suspension bind is the limiter on the front of an 80.

Take out "full articulation" and add in "full unloading" where the entire front end drops out and you have a different story. There is nothing to bind when both sides drop equally on a steep climb - only the shocks to limit. On a tall lift, a center limiting strap would be an excellent idea to keep traction on the front end on straight steep climbs.

At full articulation you're are absolutely right - that's why on an 80 you drop the entire front end to install coils, you can't just flex one side at a time like the rear suspension because you'd have to pull one of the arms to do it.

Thanks Nay for that explaination but I guess the actual geometry of the suspension is new to me as all I have ever really done is installed one of the kits avaliable. Just put it on and go and it usually works like it is supposed to. Now, if I am going to try to match my shocks to the spring height thus relocating shock mounts ect., now I am into an area that is new to me. I am sure I have never flexed my suspension with the 2.5" OME 850/863 and N73/N74 Nitro's to its full capability, whatever that distance is supposed to be. Right now, I am still on the 850/863 springs but with 315/75/r16 BFG M/T's with the LTR's so how do the shocks match up with my setup now? Is the up and down travel about equal?

Gary, please give more info on how the spring fell out. Was he running just adapters for the 12" shocks or were the towers moved up? I just don't see how those springs could come out. Could they have folded in half and got spit out the front?
