I've never done one but I'm sure you'll need to put the frame on jack stands high enough for the tires to be off the ground, then you'll have to jack up the axel to free up the weight on the springs. Then I think you should be able to start the tear down at that point.

X2. That's why I love this forum, someone always has a better/easier way to do the same thing.Just take the tires off so you don't need a 2' tall jack stand.
