This one has probably been done to death, but here goes. I have a '96 TLC with factory lockers that is my DD and spends far too much time in the parking lot at work. I don't see myself ever doing Moab or Rubicon but I do like going out and wheeling around the mountains where the guys with the $50k trucks usually don't go. I have been reading about the OME 75mm and Slee 4" lifts and would like hear some opinions or facts on which one would be the best one for me. I wan't to use 315/75R16 BFG M/T or TOYO Open Country M/T and I will stick with the stock wheels or use Weld's Mountain Crusher wheel in a 16x8/9.

Of course I want an ARB with a Warn 12000 and maybe a Kaymar receiver bumper for the rear plus all the other goodies, but that is for another post.

If you're gonna be loaded down with armor and gear, then the Slee. If you're only gonna be slightly armored and slightly loaded, then the 75mm.

If you stay light, then the OME is fine, if you get heavy(ier), then go Slee.

Well that sounds like one vote for Slee as I do want to "Armor" it up. Sliders, bumpers , roofrack, etc...

Armor is only part of the equation though, if you're not gonna have more than 100#s of gear in the back, then armored up, OME will be fine. Then spacers would be involved...

On a regular basis I wouldn't have a lot of gear in my Cruiser, just my 50lb grip for work. I have looked at pricing though. The OME looks to cost just as much once you buy all the other stuff that is included with the Slee.

It will really depend on what you will finally do, and how long you will be riding light till you get there.

You could get everything for the 4", but get the OME springs, load up with all your armor and gear, drive, and see how you like it. If it is too soft, sell the springs and buy the Slee springs. Springs are easily swappable, and you need all the same goodies with either lift. Your load and weight will decide what springs to get, too stiff and you will have a harsh ride, too soft and you'll have more body roll than your elementary lunch ladies.

96 with 315s and a lot of stuff with the Slee springs. For a few reasons I added 30mm spacers up front afterwards.

Cool,

And did you noticed much lift when going from that setup to the slee, or are they somewhat close in the end?

Rick- Any problems with rear drivecshaft vibes? I assume you have a slee front shaft. Are you using just slee castor plates even with the spacer.

I have to put in a plug for the Slee 4inch as well. With the OME Js, I thought there was too much sway while driving, especially at high speed. The Slee 4 inch are much firmer, and it's immediately noticable once you make the swap. The only down side, is that if you are already running "L" shocks, the springs are loose at full droop up front. For simplicity, I would order the regular length shocks to use with these springs unless you feel up to making a spring retainer. Like Rick, I added a packer to take up the slack so I can continue to use the L shocks.

A little lift but not much. The 4" front springs were the same length as the 850s but ended up providing a little lift over the 850s with the spacers added. So the spring rate is higher and that helps tremendously with handling the weight of the truck.

No vibrations at all and I didn't use Slee's plate (I made my own). I have Slee's DC shaft in front, Slee's Panhard joint in the front and MAF panhard drop bracket in the rear.

Kind of a hodge podge setup

Thanks! Just what I was hoping to here. I have to get my lift out of the garage and on the truck. I am just waiting for my 315 toyo m/t's to get here to jump in all at once.

Nice Cruiser Rick. Thanks for the info and opinions. I was steering towards the Slee lift and after reading about how it rides and handles the road better, I am leaning that direction even more.

Land tank. Are you running an ARB rear bumper?

He's got a Kaymar dual pivot, using one side with a tire carrier.

So, those of you with the 4" springs, how is the ride on washboard dirt roads? Just wondering if you can still run them at speed without rattling your molars out.
