I’d get the tank boiled and recoated or replaced with a long range unit, then you won’t have concerns about the clear filters being needed due to contamination.

My truck fouls the filter in about 3,000 miles, so eventually I’ll replace it.

I’ve never seen anything in the filters, ever, leading me to believe it came in to the truck along the way via the nozzle.

That said, after spending the last 2 days installing a Long Range Automotive tank in my pig it will be some time before the PTSD wears off from that encounter.

The LRA tank install into a 60 is super easy FYI.

As my good friend Georg put it so perfectly “55s are ****ed to work on”

Rimes with ducked.

Ole Blue got a present today for being such a good Cruiser the last few weeks

Getting ready to bite the bullet and order AFI for my old 60. Thanks for sharing your experiences. I'm like a deer in the headlights looking at that smog pump and the Kraken nest of vacuum lines.

So... 48" harness? Been rereading all 40 pages but my ADD and alcoholism makes hard to do on my phone. Bosch heated O2 sensor?

One other thing.

Im really happy with my AFI but I also just installed a Holley Sniper and, as
For the install.....man. It’s SO much more simple.

I hate to do that to you now that you are ready to pull the trigger on the AFI.

I have not USED mine yet though and I have 10,000 plus miles on AFI.

No, I super appreciate that you gave me a heads up before I pulled the trigger. I'm looking into it now.

I'm going to do the Holly. Also, think I can do it to the old 20r in my pickup. (Never have been happy with the Webber.) Thanks Nolan

Ole Blue is about to get a turn in the spa. Need to replace the belts and clean up the charcoal setup I ripped out during my trip to Big Bend.

Spa day was a success.

Started in on the drivers side, cleaning and tucking things away. Got a good clean on the aluminum and paint.

A mouse had made a home in my hood isolator so I removed it and cleaned all the junk out.

Back when all this started I had painted the hood the wrong blue. The dark still lives under the hood isolator. I just had him repaint the top. Funny.

Dirty girl

I needed an AC belt so I went ahead and replaced the other two and made the old set my spares.

I also upgraded my fuel filters to higher pressure models after our previous discussions on the paper ones being wrong for my setup.

I put in a new Delco charcoal canister and a new gas cap. I blew out the system good and made sure my evaporator in the rear fender was clear. Hopefully this fixes my pressure issue I had in Big Bend

Very pleased at how well everything cleaned up.

I’ve been sitting on this piece of jewelry for a few weeks. I’m so exited. This and the deep clean make my engine bay look good as new.

That's the ideal right there! Looks clean and uncluttered, unlike how it came from the factory. I feel bad for the engineers that had to accommodate the smog laws of those days. A clean running engine is an efficient one.
