What kind of oil are people going to be running in there deisels now that winter is coming??

I run the same year round--RotellaT 15-40. In Mississippi, temperatures rarely get to as low as your warmer winter days.:D

Chevron Delo 400 15-40 year round
If I was in Calgary I would probably switch to Delo Synth 5-40 for the winter.

a friend suggested 0-40 for the winter.. any thoughts??

Diesel42 where are you located??

I run Esso XD-3 0W40 Synthetic in my HJ61. It's great in winter but also great all year around. I just took my truck on a 5000 km trip through the US (including the Nevada desert) and the oil held up very well.

I recently switched from Mobil 1 synthetic diesel oil to straight old Rotella 15-40. I notice now in the mornings that my oil light takes longer to go out on start-up. I suppose this is due to the increased viscosity?

Esso XD 0/40 Synth is my preference in my 13BT's for the winter. 10,000km drain interval, with a new filter spun on at 5000kms.

Summer is either Esso XD 0/40 or Amsoil 15/40 for 10,000kms.

At the end of the day........

Some oil is better then none!
