I use that exact pump to empty my lawn mower gas at the end of the season, it works great for that.

it maybe .. but I'm bit worried using it to fill up my t-case .. ( which it's my main target ) with thick oil ..

The pump I use for gear oil fits the top of a 1Gal jug, I think mine was branded as Valvoline but they are all pretty much the same thing. (Picture below) They work well but doing a complete fluid replace (T-case, trans and axles) on a Cruiser wears your arm out.

Sooo much easier. The only downside is you have to have the room to store it.

I want one of those .. where to get ?

wise I want just the cap .. coz I have several " tanks " at home that I could use ..

I use the same one KLF uses. Don't have to worry about running out of gear oil and very fast to fill.

Amsoil Gear oil you're using is very good quality.

That red pump sucks. You got to stick the hose in the gallon jug pump it and then when you pull the hoses out oil runs all over the frackin place. Plus the oil left in the tube comes out eventually. I put it in a garbage bag for the next use. Next use I reached in to use it again pulled it out, put it back in the bag and threw that s*** away.

And when it's cold outside you might as well be working with a steel tube. No way that quart of AMSoil is staying upright attached to a giant hunk of crap. Might as well just pour the oil on the driveway.

5 gallon bucket pump is the way to go.

Northern tool has the lid pump separate or with pail.

I notice that says "transmission, differential and heavier oils" - any idea on motor oil? I'd pick up two if I could use one on my bucket of Rotella for the diesel.

It's saying it can handle just about any viscosity.

Transmission fluid is thin.
Diff oil is thick.

Same style, but different manufacturer. I have a bunch. One for each type of engine oil, and gear oil I routinely use. The real hassle is, for a near dripless fill, you need somebody to pump it when you are under a truck filling a transfer case or transmission. I mainly use them only for topping off.

As for oil weights they can handle. I use one of mine with 85-140 weight oil. Another has ATF in it.

The other method I use is I have a 5 gallon pail with a hose fitting at the bottom on one side. I either put a 3' or 6' hose on the hose fitting. In use I route the hose to the oil fill hole, and just put into the pail the right amount of oil needed. I started doing this for the tractors which take 2.5 to 5 gallons of engine oil and 10 to 20 gallons of transmission/hydraulic oil. I got tired of holding up the 5 gallon pails as I filled the engines and transmissions. I have a ball valve with hook nozzle I can put on the end of the hose. That allows me to control the flow for filling lower capacity equipment.

depends .. not for manuals ..

That was my thought - I use the same oil in trans, t-case, and diff. Wasn't thinking ATF.

Sounds good!

I'm in the middle of turning an old oil pump from a junk motor here into a drill driven oil pump. if i ever finish it, i'll post up pics
