Oil Weight
It seems very interesting to me that they offer a 5W-30 or 10W-30 oil. Seems way to thin for a diesel. Here in the U.S the only diesel rated oil I have seen is either 15W-40 or some non-detergent single weight oils. If I lived in New Zeeland I think I would be going online and order oil from another country until they get some standards there. Just curious but what other countries do they sell such ligh weight diesel rated oil?

In this third World Country, I've only ever bought Oil from Super Cheap Auto and Repco. Here are their Internet Sites in New Zealand.

I use 5w30, 10w30, 0w40 and all kinds of "thin" oils here in Canada. They are not too thin when its cold out.
This whole oil thing is taken out of proportion. Really man... the oil is definately better than when these trucks were built.
I buy the cheapest oil I can find that is diesel rated, I change often. Oh and the "weight" of it is more important to me than the brand.
at -10 c the 15w40 oils are sluggish to start a diesel.
I find that srticle on Markerink's site a little unbelievable.
He cant name names,he cant actually tell us whats wrong with the oil for fear of legal action and we wouldnt understand it anyway, WTF??
As Jonathans link shows,they are selling oil in NZ that are API compliant and probably always have as they tend to get the same consumer products with the same standards as OZ.
Im the same as Brownbear,buy an oil of a recognised standard and dont skimp on the changes and filters.
And stop listening to oil freaks

x2 i use 10w30 winter (TLC manual approved) and 15w40 summer.
when it's real hot at 35c, would anyone go upto 20w40?
0-30 semi synth. for me in the winter, 15-40 in the summer!! Cheers!!
sure if I lived in Arizona or Texas. Anyplace with the plus 40 or more temps.... I already feel warm
