Don't know if this is new or has been happening all along. My 62 uses hardly any oil, and the oil pressure gauge is always right at the halfway point. The other day I was running late and in a hurry so I decided to see what he really had. After some unbelievably fast moments sigh...... well he was trying, I noticed the gauge had dropped down to the quarter point. Automatically I freaked thinking I had lost the galley plug or something else horrible had happened. Then as I was coasting it rose back to halfway. Is this normal cause now I watch it all the time and sometimes it drops to that quarter point but then it always rises back to half. My oil is reading perfect so hopefully it's normal. Thanks again for the input. Named him Chief by the way.

Electronic oil gauges are notoriously inaccurate. Not much better than an idiot light but looks way better. The best way to get an accurate reading is to hook up a mechanical gauge.

The gauge in my BJ60 will actually go to zero at idle when warm but a mechanical gauge shows 12psi at idle, 3 times the minimum recommended in the engine manual.
