Though I'd ask while posting.
Recently I put in a secondary oil pressure guage on the dash, came with all its own wiring.
Once I had it installed and working, my oil guage in the dash cluster, stopped working a couple of days later.
I changed the sender unit and it still wouldnt work, you earth it out and the guage flicks up to high.
A auto elect said the guage needs re calabrating.
The new sender is the same as the one I replaced. ???????
regards

There is a very specific way that the stock sender has to be wired otherwise it will short the stock gauge which will cause it to constantly read at the red (top).
Need a bit more information on how you connected everything and what not,
- is the new secondary gauge electrical or mechanical?
- how did you tie everything together?
- what is the stock gauge doing now and was it working before?
- why did you add the secondary gauge?

Throw up some pics if you can.

I am heading up the cape in 2015, and just wanted extra reading on what the engine was doing.
The secondary guage came with it own sender, and along with the with orginal sender are both on a extension coming out of the block.
The seconday guage Electrical had its own wiring earth/power/dash lights/and sender.
The cluster guage wiring wasnt changed all i did was replace the sender.
As I said it worked for a couple of days then stopped reading.
If you earth the sender out the cluster guage needed goes to high.
Some one told me there are two different senders for this model, but new sender is the same as old one.

Tell me more about this sender wiring Greg, mine is doing that but the pressure tests ok.

@Crick60 There are a couple threads out there on this. However, I just realized something. Both of you are not in the US so send is PROBABLY different and the fact that it may or may not be on a gas (petrol) engine is a major contributor as well.

On the 2F there is a specific way that the send must be connected otherwise it will short out the gauge. In the cluster this results in a HIGH reading at all times (when there is power to the gauge) however there is one user that said he was able to recalibrate the gauge. The gauge needle is moved by a spiral spring and when it "shorts" too much power it put to it thus screwing up the calibration. According to him he was able to bend (tighten) the spring back to a normal position and get it to read properly again.

@webby61 we need more info on your truck. What engine is in it for starters and whether it is 12v or 24v.

For starters i'm in Aussie.
The vehicle is a hj61 12ht wagon 12v.
The only wiring i put in was for the secondary guage on the dash.
The wiring to the dash cluster has not changed, just changed the sender unit and put wires back on.
