So my oil pressure gauge started reading high after the change to Rotella 15w40. I figured it was maybe not the right choice. But when the gauge pegged I knew there was a problem. Looking at posts the reality is the factory gauge can be a problem.

So I installed an aftermarket mechanical oil pressure gauge, my favorite brand is Equus. I have used them in the past with great success and the price is very economical.

The first pic is cold at high idle, second set is warm.

So I need to figure what is going on with the factory gauge! It does drop a little when the engine is warm but no lower than the 75% mark.

Also for 283000 miles the oil pressure is looking great and within FSM specs!

My factory gauge looks exactly that way and I am in the process of adding a mechanical gauge to my truck to monitor for the same reasons.

The factory gauge is known to be off and it can be one way or the other.
