Other day got in the 80 and drove to work and noticed my oil pressure gauge is completely gone and unresponsive. Usually the movement of mine is reasonable and although its not an accurate gauge gives me a okay idea of whats going on. I was wondering what the first steps would be to repair this to figure out if the problem is in the dash or with the sensor?

Thanks all

Take a wire brush and clean the terminals on the sensor if they're still there and then clean the ones for the clips if they're still there. During my swap I hooked up the sender and it didn't work, turned out the wire had broke. Right at the plug but the hard crusty insulation was holding it on. Check that too. If all seems well maybe you should replace the sender.

check your connectors at the sender and if they look fine id go with a new sender. i replaced mine since it was starting to look like swiss cheese and was eventually going to be a failure point, now my harness has given up the ghost

Havent gotten around to messing with it yet, but my oil light keeps coming on intermittently and then turning off. Is this a sign of another issue going on?

Do you have oil? Lol. The oil level and the oil pressure are 2 different senders. I would be surprised they both went at the same time. If you haven't; check your oil level and then get the senders replaced.

Most definitely right up to the fill mark.. super odd

It's a sign to check the wires and connection.

this is a commonly reported problem. often cyclical, to do with the moon or something.. :)
Happen to know where Steve Jobs is burried? I'd like to sh!t on his grave for making this abortion of a communication device they call the "iPhone" I can't type anything anymore without it autocorrecting to something heinous.

Mine had the same issue and it ended up needing a new oil pressure sending unit and a new section of the wiring harness. The harness is NLA from Mr. T, but I had @RAGINGMATT make me a new one. He did an excellent job, but it wasn't cheap. I will say though that finally seeing what my oil pressure looked like was a moment of great excitement for me.

ah much as I hate Apple in general, the Google is no better @ autocorrupt.. plus Im serious anyway, I bet more dudes have had a broken wife than a broken wire :)

Nice work. If I find that it is indeed the harness, you will be hearing from me.

Now I know what to get the kids for Christmas! A box of various connectors, pins, wires, and we're in bidness!
