Oil pan gasket orientation (OEM) (1 Viewer)

Anyone know if the red stripes printed on the factory gasket (red for newer gasket for newer oil pans) - if stripes go toward the front of the engine on the pan? Or does it not matter?

I just did mine about 3 weeks ago so you'd think I'd remember. 99% sure the red lines are toward the front, I'm sure someone else will chime in to verify.

I’m like you but 90% sure I saw that somewhere….but after searching for oil pan gasket or red lines, it was too broad of a search

Oil pan/ side cover gasket stuff....(FAQ)

That’s cool...for a store-bought part. I use old carb mounting studs. They’re also useful for reassembling/aligning drum brake spindles, backing plates and wiper seals to the knuckle housing so the bolt holes all line up.😉
