I pulled my old oil filter off the other day to replace it. Who knows how long its been on there?

I was concerned to see ZERO evidence of any oil flow through the filter. The filter looked new on the inside and the bracked that it screws into was also dry on the inside.

one of the SS oil lines seems to be coming out of some sort of regulating or check valve perhaps? what is that thing? why do i have no oil flow thru the filter?
I definitely have oil pressure. I have confirmed that.

Sounds interesting but I cant see the pics at work:mad:

since you said ss lines ---has the sys been modified from stock other than the lines ?

I guess I will see what you are running from home

That stainless line is coming from the oil regulator. This style regulator is a bypass regulator. Once the oil pressure gets to what it's set to (It's adjustable by screwing in the plug on the end with the big lock-nut.) the excess oil is bypassed to the filter. It passes through the filter and back to the engine. Your regulator may be stuck closed allowing no oil to the filter.

Go here for how to get it off, clean it out and re-install it. Oil Pressure Regulator

the valve was installed backwards.
a 10 munte fix and now i have plenty of oil going thru the filter
