As of Saturday I’m officially a 200 series owner. Snagged a 2018 in black with a terra interior and no entertainment system (big requirement for me).

Few questions - The truck had original tires on it still and were worn out. I replaced the Dunlop’s with Michelin Defenders after all the reading I did on here stating it was the best highway tire for comfort and reduced road noise. Driving back from having them installed tonight they seemed louder than the Dunlop’s were and they had 4/32 of tread left. Did I get a bad batch of tires?

The front sloped section of my roof rack is cracked on one side, anyone know where I can find a Toyota site to get the right replacement part?

I know winterizing the undercarriage is paramount for us northern folks. I plan on lightly removing the surface rust on the frame welds, repainting, and then coating in FluidFilm, Wool Wax, etc. Any suggestions on this process?

Pictures to follow tomorrow - it needs tints, a paint correction to remove swirls and holograms (thanks dealer) and a ceramic coating. This is a highway/road trip vehicle to us so the max offroading it’ll see is gravel or dirt roads for over landing; hence the tire choice.

Excited to be a LC owner finally. Looking forward to many years of reliable, comfortable driving and exploring.

Pretty tough to know, but check the air pressure the shop added. Sometimes they overfill and can make you hear every bump or pattern in the road.

I figured that might’ve been the case, checked and saw 37 psi all around. Which didn’t strike me as too high, unless I’m mistaken.

Post your tire size and model including the load rating (ex: 116s) in the tire pressure recommendation thread and @gaijin should get you dialed in. Your new tires will most likely run higher than stock pressures due to the LT-metric construction vs stock p-metric, but I don’t know at all whether 37 is appropriate.

Also congrats! These are amazing rigs.

Hmmm...Defender louder than stock Dunlops? If true, then that would rule it out for my future use since the whole point of getting Defender was to obtain stock quietness/ride.

IF he got the stock size, then it is P-metric XL rated. I think that PSI should be same a stock Dunlops (33 psi). If so, then the current 37 psi is doubtful the reason of road noise.

I'll head over to that thread and give it a shot. Thanks for the tip.

I got stock tire sizing, so 285/60/18, on the Defenders.

Is it significantly louder than Dunlops? Do you notice it more on the highway or in city driving?

I'll save you a trip ;)

The only 285/60R18 Michelin Defender is the ISO Metric 285/60R18/XL 120H Defender LTX M/S.

The Recommended Cold Tire Inflation Pressure for the 285/60R18/XL 120H tires on your LC200 is 33psi F/R - the same as is on your door placard.

Welcome! After you knock the rust off, don’t just paint. Use something like Rustoleum Rust Reformer before you Fluid Film it. That trip home with the new tires was louder because they had the little nubbins on the tread from manufacturing. Let them wear a few miles and you‘ll find them very quiet. And run that pressure down to 33 cold. At 37 they were 11% over-inflated and that could make a difference.

Aired them down to 33psi cold after work today and took it for a spin on the highway. Definitely seems to fix some of the road noise and increase ride quality. Pretty interesting the truck is that sensitive to tire psi.

That was my plan, perhaps paint was the wrong word to use there. I ran mine down to 33 psi and it seems to have helped a good bit.

Apologize for the delay, but here’s pictures of the newly acquired 200! (Complete with the pup!)

It’s going to be a great road trip, daily, and dog hauling vehicle. We’re already big fans of the 200 in general after a few weeks of ownership.
