Hello all, time to start getting info out about this year's Rubithon. This year's event will be held from June 23rd - 28th, 2015. We have already reserved the Springs, the Slabs and Dirty Dozen and I've confirmed all the runs.

I would like to thank Alvaro Rodriguez for again hosting the "Rock Chef" competition. Last year had Phil Pasciak even making homemade ice cream, so bring your "A" game! We have decided that we are going to have a champions championship for the 30th annual Rubithon. Only past champions of Rock Chef will be able to compete in it, so get your skills in the ring and be a part of the fun! Alvaro will be doing a thread on this later and I will post a link up here once it is ready. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/rock-chef-iii.830919/

On Friday after the completion of Rock Chef, the Marauder Bar and bonfire festivities will kick off! Saturday will have a full day of activities to partake in, or just be lazy and enjoy the water and the views!

I would also like to thank Toys on the Rocks for again hosting a wine tasting event to raise funds for the Rubicon Trail Foundation.

One question that came up several times last year, was "how many runs can I go on?" Rubithon is different from many of the other great events put on by TLCA. You pick the one run you want to go on to get to the Rubicon Springs which is the base camp for the event. All of the events happen in the Springs or you can go on a day run on your own if you adventure to. The only request is that you be considerate of others that are still making their way into the Springs and allow them to pass. At the end of the event, you can decide to go back the same route after the event or continue on up Cadillac Hill after the event and exit in Tahoma.

Another question is about the registration. You MUST be a current member of TLCA to attend. You can sign up for a first class membership, or if you are not interested in receiving a printed copy of Toyota Trails, you can sign up for a PDF only membership and for your convenience you can do this right from your Rubithon registration form. Registration is per vehicle, not per person. Food and shirts are provided as listed on the registration forms but additional food items and T-shirts can be purchased.

One thing that will be different this year, you must pre-order your shirts and hoodies! I will have a very small number of extra shirts to sell at the event, but unfortunately, I will not be placing an order after the event as we tried to do in the past.

We provide crew on Cadillac Hill from 7am until 2pm and will help spot, throw rocks or wench you up. We do not provide support going back via Loon Lake, but there is a large number of participants that chose to go back out the same way, and most of us have ham radios if there are any problems.

The www.rubithon.com website will have all the updated information and registration forms for this year's run within the next few weeks. Once completed, I will attach the registrations to this thread as well.

Information concerning the registration form itself:
  1. Any box that is outlined in red MUST be filled out or it will not allow you to submit. If the box doesn't apply to you, putting none or N/A will do just fine.
  2. The name field has two boxes. First name and then last name.
  3. If you place the cursor over a field, it will give a sample of what is being looked for
  4. If you select one of the Breakfast Runs, there is an additional fee and must be entered on the form.
  5. You can print a copy of the completed form for your records.
  6. After you hit submit on the bottom right corner, you should see a pop up saying it has been successfully completed. You will also receive and an email to the email address you provided
  7. In a few days you will also receive a confirmation letter to that same email
For anyone with a Mac, you will need to download the attachment and open it with adobe reader to be able to fill it out and submit it. If you have any problems, you can print it, fill it out and email or snail mail it in.

If you have any questions or problems, feel free to contact me at 530-401-0800 or email at chairman (at) rubithon (dot) com Email is prefered to PM's please

You have 25 weeks to get those rigs ready, now get to it :steer:

I'm so bummed, missing this by a couple days... I am trying to run Rubicon starting June 29th/30th. I'm getting married in Portland on the 27th then making my way down there. So if anyone wants to run Rubicon with me as I don't want to go it alone shoot me a PM.

Well the registration form is ready. This is for all NON-COMMITTEE persons to register for the 27th Annual Rubithon. Leads and Committee will receive a separate email containing the correct registration form.

For all, if your registration is RECEIVED after May 31st, you will not be receiving shirts, hoodies, or meals. The only option at that point is the Basic Registration. With that however, you can still renew your TLCA or sign up for CalStar without any problems.

I will post up a CalStar Form shortly and will attach both here and on the www.rubithon.com site.

A few notes:

  • By placing your mouse over the field, it will tell you what is being looked for :)

  • A common problem last year is in the name field, there are 2 boxes (first then last please)

  • Anything bordered in red MUST be filled out or it will not allow you to submit.

  • When you do hit submit you should receive immediate confirmation right on your screen followed by an e-mail to the address listed in the e-mail field.

  • If something doesn't apply, like maybe you are a new TLCA member, type New, or if you don't belong to a home club, put TLCA.

  • If you have a PC: Download the form to your computer, fill it out and hit submit on the bottom right corner.

  • If you have a Mac: For some reason, Adobe forms central had issues with Macs. My understanding is that to resolve it, you must download the form and open with Adobe Reader, it should then allow you to fill out and hit submit. If you have problems you can always fill it out, scan it and e-mail or fax it to me (info on the form)
  • For both PC and Mac, it seems to work better to actually download the form, fill it out and hit submit. Not all web browsers work well to fill out and his submit directly from the web.
  • Either way, if you don't receive the form received acknowledgement, I didn't get it. Contact me and I'll help you out.

California Campfire Permit
Campfire Permits are required for open fires, such as campfire, barbecues and portable stoves on federally controlled lands and private lands that are the property of another person.

On private lands, written permission from the landowner is also required for campfire use.

Get your California Campfire Permit quickly and easily online!

Typically by the time of the event, the only fire the property owners will allow is the main camp fire in the springs, and that one is taken care uf

I'm in!

Well, my truck isn't quite up for it this year and its fate at this point is a little shaky (may or may not sell it this year :(), but if anyone is willing to take a passenger.....

...I'd do my best at spotting and pull cable/stack rocks when needed.... lol

This is the perfect place to ask. We always have many members that drive in solo!

So we are going to offer up the same incentive to get registrations in early. Every month we are going to do a random drawing to select from the registrations that we have received up to that date. The winner will receive an extra grand prize ticket. You will be entered every month from that one on up through the end of May, even if you have already been drawn earlier. So get those registrations in

I have decided to go and it will be my first time participating so it will be most likely the Wagon Run.

My 80 has OME medium lift (rear airbags), 35" recently bought, Arb front w/winch, sliders, my uncle is making me a rear bumper/swingout as of this writing, ARB rear locker ONLY (hoping to get front before June). She is mechanically sound, no leaks, 184k, and will do more rigid PM's as June gets nearer.

My question to the most experienced ones is, will my 2-2.5" lift suffice or do I have to get 4". I know there will be rubbing and flares will be torn and body damage, I have prepared my soul for that, or will probably remove the flares before hand.
Has anyone made it up there with the same lift? I really don't want to spend more $$$ on suspension if this will suffice.

Any tips/advice will be great... So fire away...

Thanks in advance.

-John

Glad you decided to join us. I think you will have a blast with the Wagon Run. I'm not an 80 guy myself, so I will leave the lift recommendation to the experts

I'm hyped that I'm actually going. My uncle will be my co driver/gearhead.

From my understanding, the wagon run meets at Loon Lake, if we decide to haul a trailer to this event, will there be a space to leave a truck and trailer up there, this is just for insurance purpose, but I'm hoping that I won't be needing it. Any additional parking fees if ever?

Aside from Wednesday take off, I see there is another take off on Thursday from loon lake, is this similar to the wagon run or is it much more difficult for me and my rig?

Thanks...

Since you are in an 80, I really think the Wagon Run is the best for you. The Thursday Run has all types of vehicles on it, where the Wagon Run is almost all wagons. They are more likely to understand your vehicles wheeling characteristics and have any parts that you may not have thought to bring. Those guys always have a blast and is almost always the first run to fill up. As far as the run itself, the Rubicon is only 1 trail (with a few offshoots) and both runs camp at Buck.

Leaving that early, you should have plenty of room for parking a trailer, and there is no cost for doing so. Another option is to head up Tuesday night and camp out at Ice House Resort. There is parking there as well, but they charge. I think it's $10/day. You can find a link on the www.rubithon.com website under the Prep Tab.
