I have a rear oem tire rack from my 1980 FJ40. It was restored a few year ago the original hinges were dissembled by cutting the welds. Oil impregnated brass bushings were press fit into the hinges.
The unit was painted to match 70s dune beige.
The bad
one of the studs for the spare tire broke off and a new one was not welded on prior to paint.
When I used this rack I just had a bolt in that location.
