Hey there.
I own a middle east spec 85' FJ62, and I'm having a hard time re-installing the stock roof rack. This thing has 6 rubburized mounts 3 on each side and it seems they have a designated place to mount to as they have F, R , L stamped on them. I am lost and so far have dinged the truck in several places due to falling screws and parts! pls help !!!

jeez I don't think I have seen one of those roof racks on here before.

The stock Canadian ones used captive nuts in the roof.

F to me would mean front.

r right side

l left hand side.

got any more close ups of the mounts?

Here's one way to mark them using those three letters: F=Front, R=rear, L=Left. Maybe a picture of the mounting pads would help decode the locations.

Thx guys,

here's a pic of the one the says "F". Got 4 of those, 1 L & 1 R. I cant' figure out what they mean, but I do remember the guy at the body shop took 4 hours to put them on ....

any ideas ?

Based on my experiene with building a roof rack, the rain gutter and maybe the roof line has a slight crown at the front and at the back but it's fairly flat along the middle. I would try the four pads marked "F" in the four forward locations, then that leaves L=left rear and R=right rear...otherwise, I'm stumped. good luck.
