The importance of this fact is that the long jump seats in a 1972 FJ40 will not work with the OEM roll bar from the later year FJ40s.

In order to use an OEM roll bar retrofitted into a 72 you will need to do something about your jump seats, either modifying them or replacing them with later, shorter jump seats.

Besides, the Toyota roll bars were useless junk. You are better off having a real roll bar built that will actually save you if you have that unfortunate experience

FWIW it’s easy to bolt in a factory roll bar into an early 40 but to make it stronger you should add the under fender supports that tie the vertical and horizontal parts of the fender well together. That how it was done on the years that came with roll bars. Good luck
