Hi everyone,

My rear locker on my HZJ73 doesn't lock on. When I turn the rear and front locks "on" on the dashboard the front only engages though I hear the rear functionning...I've lifted the rear and the locker does'nt seem to lock, very strange...but when turning the knob on the dash you can hear the "bzzzz" :-)

I was wondering if I simply should open the rear locker but i'm afraid of breaking something

Can someone help me through here? where can i find a exploded view for these lockers?

thanks in advance!!!

thanks for the advice, i've found everything in the 80 section!

Just sprayed WD40 in the air take of the locker and 1 hour later it worked again...i'm a happy man now :-)

yah, makes rookies look like they have been wheeling for years...

downside, a rear locker can get you into trouble where learning with an open diff would teach you to back down from...

also lockers equal worse stucks (similar to bigger tires)

indeed, they'll drag you down sidehills...quite dangerous

i think its best to go as far as possible wihtout them and use them when stuck, just as a backup

bull****.
you find yourself slipping sideways blurp the throttle and the front comes back to where it belongs... inexperience is quite dangerous.

if you wait till you are stuck to engage then you will still be stuck... bad advice.

I agree, just add throttle and you are ok, if you are going downhill and let off the throttle - and it is slippery you will go sideways for sure.

Bets thing to do is to throw the lockers on before you get into the crap - to do so afterwards is a waste of time.

actually Louis, it works going downhill best when the ass is trying to pass you...you blurp the throttle and the front pulls back down hill...opposite of what we think would happen occurs...

we will need to sit down have share a coffee and some tales when i get down there...

i meant sidehills on slipery surface, with rear lock on for example you can be sure, even with constant throttle, that the trucks end will slide off...

would love to join you guys for a coffee...but it'll take at least 9hours flying :-) from Belgium

agreed, sidehill can be a challenge but if sliding sidewy then turn down hill to get back under control instead of uphill which is theusual reaction...

"crabbing" can be a work of art as well... as long as you don't have a 100 ft drop at the bottom...

I totally agree but additionnaly I think that getting stuck is part of the game, don't you love it working hours to get trucks unstuck? by this i don't mean just to get stuck in a puddle of mud but in a position where you need creative ideas and teamplay to move forward... add to this rain(or better snow), technical problems, fatigue...thats the best!

in fact its simple, what memories are you bringing back when you guys get together:beer:...the moments that were the hardest to come over during a certain trail

I totally agree:)

from wheeling i have memories of the scenery, the people i wheeled with and the technical problems that needed over coming...

if this was in chat i could relate some wicked stories from over the years... some of the greatest times of my life were trying to get a bunchs of trucks through a section after dark...

maybe we will need to fly and get together one day...
