I have an ‘81 FJ40. When I picked it up there was only 1 front tow hook. It appears these came from factory with 2 or were the ‘81s an exception?

Are OEM still obtainable? I did a search and it appears the bolts are but unclear if the actual hook is.

I’ll concede this shouldn’t bother me, but I’m a glutton for symmetry I guess. :)

Thanks all!

I think there was only one, mounted on the boxed part of the frame where it’s strongest. If there had originally been two, you should see mounting holes.

There were two hooks listed through July 1980 (8007)

The quantity no. is between the part no. and the 1000

I’m pretty sure the HF tow hooks fit a 40 series bolt pattern,, I think that’s what I have on the front of my 40 ,, looks like a 40 pic in HF the reviews,,

Bought mine brand new in 77. Came with only one.

I see Amayama Trading shows two thru 84. But in the US at least starting with the 75 model there was only one. Had a friend who was so impressed with my 68 FJ40 he traded in his 74 Datsun pickup he had less than a year and bought one of the first 75 FJ40s off the boat in Southern California. It only had one hook. We both noticed it. I'm my ex has the pictures I had of bought side by side.

OEM is only $20 on Partsouq. even less from Japan.
