Changed the oil in my 2010 Tacoma today and found something weird. Inside the oil cap was a strange, creamy substance. It almost looks like what you find in a coolant/oil mixture in the case of a blown head gasket, but it was pretty much just inside the cap and on the threads.

Any ideas?

Condensation. It will build in the highest part of the system.

I get it too if I just do a lot of short trips without letting the engine get a good heat sink on it. If you do get the truck up to temperature for long periods, then it should not be there and further detective work needs to be preformed. i.e compression check.

Ahh, thank you. Makes sense since it is quite cold out.
