Came accross a very rare black dome light console w/ the ultrasonic sensor from an LX570. Got it thinking this would be plug and play since the harness connector is exactly the same, but boy was I wrong, snapped it in and immediately the spot lights burned out with a spark/smoke (had 1 on the ON position), suprisingly the center light turned on, but other than that, nothing, not even the roof switches. So now I have a spoiled console it was time to perform some DIY upgrades since I drove almost 2+ hours for this bastard

1) Opened up the VX dome vs the LX w/ ultrasonic thinking it was an easy transplant, well no, everything is different, even the quality of the components (board, circuitry labels, shell, size, weight, switches were momentary on LX vs push on the LC, only two screw holes lined up)

2) The LX has more lights than the LC, and I already burned one spot, decided to replace them while keeping the factory housing and heatsink (notice the burnspot)

3) All done, added quick connect harness for easy replacement

4) Did the map light mod, but I did a little extra and integrated the LX mini "lenses" (you will need to cut them approx 2mm x 4mm)

5) The LC has only a left spot and a right spot button, and since I am transplanting the LC circuit into the LX console, I am left with the "center" space empty. So I decided to add high end LEDs (they are extremely bright to the point where they are annoying)

6) Added a tactile sensor so I am able to control the brightness by touching the ultransonic switch (which honeslty looks like a lamp shining down)

7) Added illumination to the dimmer

8) All complete

Can you go into detail a bit here? did you use a constant 12v or the illum + and illum - for the dimmer? did you put illum - to ground?

The LC circuit already has illuminated open/close sunroof switches, and since I am using the LX console with the ultrasonic switch, I wanted to make the switch functional in two ways

1. Using it to dim additional center LEDs that I included (the lc only has a left spot and a right spot, the lx has 3)

2. Adding backlit illumination to the switch. It functions very nicely, one tap open, one tap close, if you keep your finger on the switch it will dim up/down to a level you like until its off. It will also store your setting next time you turn it on.

For switch illumination and map lights, I tapped into illumination+ and - from the driver switch panel, I cant remember which switch but its usually a green wire. For the added LED's and dimmer control, I made a connection from the fusebox all the way up the A pillar, ofcourse there are easier ways to do it (you can actually tap into the circuit itself and/or the harness wires).
