OK, I'll bite: why the SR5?

SR5

is my version of Bump or TTT

it refreshes the listing to the front of the Herd

just like a SR5 transmissions wins races at the front of the pack back in the 70's and 80's 5 speed s'

SR5 is was told back in collage working at the dealerships , Stood for Sun Roof 5speed = SR5

funny since toyota called them Moon roofs

When I did a VIN search on my base level 2012 tundra it came back with an sr5 designation.

Found this on Google search...
In the latter part of the 1970's, the SR5 connotation denoted an option code
for the HiLux series of trucks, similar to what the Z71 option code currently
means for an upgraded Chevy or GMC pickup or Tahoe/Yukon. Originally released
around 1975, the 'S' denoted Sport, 'R' denoted the RN motor code, and '5'
denoted the 5-speed transmission. It quickly caught on and the SR5 connotation
passed onto the Corolla and then onto other Toyota car models. Even though the
HiLux name was dropped in 1979 for the United States market, it is still used
today elsewhere in the world as the name for a Tacoma-like pickup and/or the
4Runner, depending on the market.

Other sites claimed it meant sport rally 5speed. I don't see the Japanese using sport and rally together, that's redundant and inefficient, the above makes more sense to me.
