Been organizing the new shop and I finally had time to look into this NOS carb. I got this with a 68 FJ40 I purchased a few years ago. Carb is dated 09/14/99. Interesting docs in the box. Took pics of them hoping they will be useful to someone else. Hoping this carb will be able to replace the old Holley 4BBL that is on the 400 small block. I have placed a call with Champion for confirmation.

Nothing wrong with Qjets, overall for off road it's a good choice and should be better than a Holley. I currently run a Qjet that's for a K30 400sbc auto on my stk 350/260hp, that's in my 40. It runs a little fat, but not noticable and runs perfectly. I've run them for decades. During the time, I wanted to run the same carb on my 40 as what was on my tow rig. I wanted them to be interchangeable, so if there was a problem with one, I could swap it out with the other. Is your Holley a spread bore or a square bore. You may have to change intakes or get an adaptor for the spread bore. The documentation says its for a slightly higher hp 350 than what a lot of 350's had at the time. Its probably the lesser CFM version. It may be fine for your 400 if its not built too radically. You may have to change the primary metering rods or jets or both to fine tune and work smoothly in your application.

I like the trouble shooting guide.
