I just started the cruizah....about 20 F outside

Valves were pretty noisy for about 5 minutes - just got back to the apartment - they were nice and quiet and she was idling perfect.

I'm going to recheck valve lash tomorrow AM, any other suggestions.

....Running SAE 30 Rotella - we had an unseasonably cold winter with a few weeks of sub-zero mornings.

Probably was pretty stupid to run the Rotella....

Any ideas?

edit - was really stupid to run the Rotella - switching to 15w 40 tomorrow AM....

Multi-viscosity oils thin out less at high temperatures than single viscosity oils. I.E. 10w30 and 30W oil are the same thickness at high temperatures, but 30W is much heavier and harder to pump at low temps.

Although wouldn't I be getting poor oil pressure? Press for initial idle is about 50 PSI, and running pressure (2500RPM) is about 60/65....

yes

I only do what the voices in my head tell me too....:flipoff2:

That tapped reading is taken low, close to the pump......
There's several reasons why the top-end pressure might be lesser.......
I'll go along with your need for thinner lube tho........
