Saturday drove the truck about 200 miles no issues at all. Shut off for about 20 minutes, went to restart it, started then stalled after a few seconds. Tried to start, did the exact same thing. Tried a little starting fluid, tried to start but just chugged no throttle response at all. Ended up getting it towed to a dealership since I was out of town and didn't know a shop (and likely would need a rental).

Dealership calls, says code reader indicates code P0022 camshaft position over retarded VVTi intermittently sticking. Of course it started and ran just fine for them, drove it for 20 miles yadayada.

Service advisor tells me it could be from something in the oil getting stuck.

Anyone else ever have this happen?

i remember something about a co-worker having a VVT problem a year so back while hunting. he said he just whacked the side of the valve cover a few times and boom since then no problem

Ah yes the BFH method.
