Thought I would post up a few pictures of the weekend. To keep this tech related I have decided to get sliders and an auto locker, I have pretty much decided on an aussie locker and either white knuckle offroad sliders, or Socal franks boat side sliders. Can someone compare/contrast WKOR sliders to boat side? what are the benefits? Thanks in advance!

All trails were around Big Bear lake, CA

My rig is a 97 FZJ80, unlocked. I am running an OME J lift (3.5-4") 35x12.5x17 BFG KM2's (just picked these up, usually on 315 BFG AT's)
I dont have any armor, but learned this weekend what I need to protect, Need sliders. I banged my rockers pretty good a couple times but the damage is less than I was expecting to see when I got out. I have also decided that an Aussie locker is in order. I have been saving for a dual swing out rear, but think that I will buy sliders and locker first. They would have been very beneficial this weekend. That being said, I never got the Cruzer stuck. Some lines I had to try a few times and the skinny pedal got some good work.

It was a great weekend to really test out the capabilities of the land cruiser. To this point it has mostly been "overland" trips to DV and anza borrego state park. It is an incredibly capable machine! It took all the abuse I felt like giving it with out ever skipping a beat, and then took me home in luxurious comfort. As you can see in the pictures, I really flexed it out and every time I did I felt like the LC was thanking me for letting it stretch its legs.

Another note to add, I recently installed my Iron man 4x4 caster correction plates. They have improved the handling tremendously! It was pretty sketchy to drive before the plates and often required two hands to keep her tracking straight. Now just a couple fingers are needed. I have been meaning to do a write up of the plates, but have been busy.

Anyway, enough jibber jabber, I know everyone is here for the pictures. If there are any questions let me know!

We had a blast, we did Gold Mountain on Saturday morning.

Then we did Holcomb creek, and the wrap around that goes back to 3N03?

This rock garden was challenging. This is where I would have been most happy to have a locker, especially with wet tires.

The next day we ran rattlesnake canyon and Pontiac sluice. Both were fun trails.

I also have some videos that I will try and get loaded up.

Great Pics. The rear flex shot is the best.

Your photos/rig looks great! Did you lower your bumpstops?

Jon,
Nice flex you got going there, Big Bear is a blast!

Keep it local, go with Frank's sliders.

Thanks Derrick! My rigs wants to be like yours when it grows up. Minus being flopped lol. I am definitely a fan of supporting local guys, but they are both local. John from white knuckle is in apple valley, plus $100 cheaper. I am curious what advantage "boat sides" would offer. Any thoughts?

First, thanks! It is still fairly new to me, this was it's "maiden voyage" for any real 4x4 action. Secondly, Good question. I want to say no, the lift was on when I bought the rig. Seeing as there was no caster correction, I would assume no. Also it was a "mall crawler" I have been looking for pics of stock bumpstops to compare. Have any available?

Nice flexin'. I'm in the market for sliders and lockers too after Rwhat showed me what lockers and sliders can do on slick rock .

Thanks Robert! I have you to thank for this awesome rig! What are you going to use for a locker? Air or auto?

look like a fun ass trail. running open lockers will make you a way better driver. wait till you go through that with just a rear locker! world of difference!!!

It was awesome. I have heard that before. These vehicles are so capable that with a smart driver you could do just about anything. I enjoyed wheeling with an open rear and even performed much better than my buddy in his '11 FJC with s locker and atrac.

Gettin an auto locker is the only possibility for me at the moment, however I would love something selectable so I could try this stuff open. If I recall you have an Aussie in yours? Or maybe a spartan? How has it performed?

Did you air down your tires at all? I often run <15psi and find a lot more traction (and comfort!) on the rocks.

Best decision you made is going for a rear aussie and sliders instead of the rear bumper.

Finding out what a rig can do open open is always alot of fun and you really learn about line choice and will make the world of difference when you get a locker in the rear as well.

Aired down to 20, should have done about ten or twelve psi.

I think so too.

What you have there is a solid 4X4 driven by someone with some common sense.
