There's plenty of info about the cable adjustment, but none regarding my particular question.

I'm putting a new (recycle yard) '97 transmission in my '96. I was wondering if there would be any detrimental effects to pulling the tranny cable out to WOT and clamping it there. I've read in several places that this will result in cooler operating temperatures, and the way it downshifted felt awesome in my old tranny. But that was right before I killed it, hahaha. So, is that my answer right there? (It should be noted that I messed something up in the valve body in the first place, so I don't know how it would have affected a normally operating tranny.) Or will it give the aforementioned benefits without drawbacks? It actually made the LC feel somewhat peppy, which was nice.

Does it control just the line pressure, or does it affect the shift points as well? As always, any help is appreciated.
