Just finished assembly for rebuild of original F engine in my 71 FJ40. I read a great thread concerning this same issue, but I can't locate it. Being old really sucks. The rocker oils via a copper oil line that goes from push rod compartment, through head and connects via a union in the split rocker assembly. Oil is moving through filter and discharging in crank case and into crankshaft. The new camshaft has 4 holes drilled through journal #2, which does not correspond with the position of the brass flare nut oil line connection in the push rod compartment. Having read a similar post, the holes in the cam must be there to push oil. Air will move from the rocker oil connection into the block. I believe I've spun the oil pump, with drill, at every open valve position on the cam and I'm still not getting oil. How long can you drill before striking oil or giving up? There's 2 gallons of break in oil in the pan that can't get upstairs.
