I have a F engine that was getting oil to the head prior to me replacing a head gasket. This seems to be an awful big coincidence because the 2 have nothing in common.

I have been trying to prime my oil pump with a drill for about 5 minutes. I get good oil flow from my oil filter connection but I dont get any flow from the little brass tubing. I removed the engine side cover to verify that the brass line was still intact. I then removed the brass line from the block to see if I would get any oil from the fitting.

That brings me to my question why am I not getting any oil to the head. What do I need to look at.

Thanks,
Drew

Last time I primed (on my F135) I found the same thing: it never "happened" with the drill. But everything was assembly lubed and when I started up I had great pressure and the oil showed up in the head.

The oil comes up into the tube through a hole in the camshaft and it has to be aligned for the oil to come to the head.

Just pre-oil or lube your rocker assembly and start it and watch. Make sure you have pressure right away, of course.

The later F1/2 and 2Fs can have the oil passage blocked by putting on the head gasket wrong, but you really can't do that with the copper tube.

That's what I just found out.... I went ahead and rotated my cam shaft and decided to try it again and it worked. I thought I was screwed because I have gas in my oil.

Thanks,
Drew

Good. Here's a picture of the oiling system for grins.

If you really have gas in your oil then your fuel pump needs replacing and you really need to flush your oiling system.

Already on top of it..... I changed my fuel pump a couple days ago and then tonight I went ahead and drained my oil. How do I go about flushing all of that s*** oil out of the engine. I was thinking about running the engine with the new oil anywhere between 250-500 miles and then changing the oil again.

I would think a 15 minute drive at highway speeds would do it. The gas will break down the oil, I wouldn't run it very long. Buy cheap oil, if there is such a thing.

x2! :D
