So,

I got fed up with inferior rear brakes, due to the lpsv and im smarter than my cruiser so i dont need abs, i want the brakes to do what i tell them, not what the truck tells them to do.

With that said. For about 5 hours labor and $50 i have a brand new aisin non abs master, and a wilwood adjustable proportiong valve. My front brake system works the front and the rear works the rear, not a bastard match like the factory does. Even with crappy front pads i can stop on a dime, if i want, i can even lock the rears and SLIDE out a wreck situation.

Im more than impressed, with 285 km2's it stops better than my dads bone stock 80.

I learned to drive in an old IH travelall. I prefer brakes like that, so i made my 80 that way

I know several people on here have done the same, and im sure they love it as well.

Disclaimer:::: Removing factory brake parts can be deadly if you screw up. So dont do this if you arent mechanically inclined and understand how braking systems work.

The factory did an awesome job makin a safe and reliable braking system for the cruiser, it works great but i didnt like it. So i changed it. Do this at your own risk.

I trashed my drivers side ABS lines 3 years ago while wheeling. I pulled the ABS fuse and haven't looked back. I have my LSPV adjusted all the way up at the rear axle and I run EBC Greenstuff pads front and rear. The rig stops pretty good, but I don't tailgate people so I always have room to stop.

My abs fuse has been pulled for awhile, since i did the part time. The master went bad and it was 119 for an abs master or 15 for a non abs both new aisin parts. I didnt like how the brake lines were routed (rears tied with the fronts, and vice versa). And the lpsv was annoying at best i want my brakes to work the same, loaded or unloaded. I love how it stops now.

Whats the difference between the ABS and non ABS master? Can you use the ABS master and remove the rest of the system?

Any more details on what was moved and/or removed.

I get the LSPV removal.

More interested in the master to ABS to brakes.

i'll be doing it to...i already don't have abs since the wire broke and one sensor and apparently was rotten a couple inches past another sensor...cut all the wires and removed them when i did the brake lines a month ago;)

Interesting.. Now the debate is non abs master or stick with what I got??

There is no real debate because not enough people have done this "mod" to warrant a debate. Most everyone likes their ABS. I didn't and don't. I think the 80 series ABS system is very weak. It's gone.

I am still using my ABS MC. If you wanted to do it "correctly" (i.e., OEM) then you would buy a non-ABS MC.

You can do this with the ABS MC as well. I did.

You are not going to get a lot of people to help you on this because it technically taking away a safety system which insurance companies do not like and you are willfully disabling a system installed by the manufacturer for safety purposes. This might also be against the law.

Ok... Guess I will be keeping my decision to myself.. Don't need the men in the black helocopters coming go my shop :)

No need to do that, just understand that not many people are going to agree with what you are doing based mainly on safety reasons, as Dan stated in another thread. Lots of people still dig ABS in their 80's. I think it is useless as is the LSPV for people who take this rig in a serious manner.

:)

And trust me, no one agrees with me. ;)

Where did you install the new valve? Near the stock LSPV, near the master, or???

How often do you re-adjust it?

Thanks, -Steve
